What have Edmontonians done to help small businesses?

Someone has put together ShopYEG, a directory of local businesses that offer online sales and delivery. There's also this handy spreadsheet from Vinson Luong that lists more than 400 local restaurants and food businesses that offer online ordering for pickup or delivery.

There's also a new site called Things That Are Open, which lists local businesses that are delivering service in safe and innovative ways. (It has a bonus section on local good news, if you need a lift.)

Adding a little bit of fun, blogger and social media strategist Linda Hoang (who curates Taproot's Media Roundup) invites you to spin the wheel of local to randomly select a business to buy from. She is also behind the new site Backing Locals which offers a directory of businesses that need help. Edmonton Made has some suggestions, too, as well as resources for business owners.

The Codevid-19 hackathon has enlisted developers to come up with solutions for all kinds of problems, including those faced by retail stores.

A number of organizations have put together resources to help local businesses through this difficult time, including Covid-19 Continuity, spearheaded by Punchcard Systems; Edmonton Global's resource page; the Business Link's resource page; Jobber's Home Services Resource Hub, and Travel Alberta's industry toolkit.
